Are You an Insurance Agent?
I wanted a profession that would give me the freedom to run my own business. Starting an insurance agency from scratch offered me a challenge and combined my desire to be of service to the public. By expanding to all lines of insurance from property and casualty to health and lifeI feel I have accomplished this goal.
The main reason I have had a good relationship with my customers is service. I offer competitive products, but without the service, this would mean nothing to those who have learned to put their trust and confidence in me.
Auto accident claims and homeowner weather claims would be the most claims I have to deal with personally.
I can start with the very first auto policy I sold: I noticed that the truck he was insuring did not include property coverage for an Air Stream Camper he hauled. I questioned this due to the high value of it. He indicated that his agent told him it was covered. The problem was, I told him, it was covered while he was hauling it for liability, but not for his personal investment in it. He appreciated the information, and I sold the policy with an added premium.
Years later, he had an accident and this same camper was a total loss. Had he not had this coverage, it would have been his personal loss.
The best experience is seeing how insurance benefits people when they have to use it. I feel that I have provided them with the protection to protect themselves and their families. This can be extremely rewarding with life insurance.
A customer should be treated like you would treat someone in your own family. Providing the protection they need is number one. Rates are important, but not at the sacrifice of coverage that is needed. It is always wise to review your insurance coverage and rates. Savings are available, but you won't know until you look. Overlooked insurance, such as life, disability income protection, as well as Long Term Care Insurance needs, should also be discussed.
